An exhibit (with high resolution reproduction) and a symposium will be held in the United Kingdom with the collaborative effort of Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures and ASIA HOUSE. The exhibit will follow through the past and present of the Japanese art and culture with the purpose of advancing further studies on these subjects.
In this exhibition, we proudly present examples of Jakuchu's work high-level photo-reproduction, using digital scanning technology allowing detailed and true copies of the originals. We hope you will enjoy the world of Kyoto's great traditional artist, Ito Jakuchu.
2013 marked the 400th anniversary of the relationship between Japan and England, and 2014 marks the 400th anniversary of the return to the ship that first took King James's present to the Shogun in 1613. We hope Jakuchu's art will serve to mediate and further friendship between our two countries.
The exhibition will be live streamed online.
